If you have a habit of utilizing leftover foods, you should check before using it as experts suggest that using food kept for more than two to three days can cause food poison. Leftover Potatoes can cause Illness

Potatoes are one of the most consumed vegetables all over the world. From French fries to gravies, you’ll find potato in all sorts of foods. Most people keep potatoes boiled or mashed at home so that they can be used during emergencies. Potato is one of the foods that should not be reheated as it can make you ill. According to food experts, you should not reheat potatoes in oven or microwave after you have left them to cool at room temperature for very long. The food is attacked by bacteria that cause botulism which is a harmful disease.  Reheating doesn’t always get the potato hot enough to kill the bacteria. Keeping it to cool down after serving is what people do wrong. You should refrigerate it after serving otherwise using it again can cause food poisoning.

Mushrooms are the next food that should be avoided from reheating. According to research, reheating mushrooms is a big mistake as mushrooms contain proteins that can be damaged by enzymes and bacteria if not stored properly. Leaving them at room temperature is one of the worse thing people do. Consuming mushrooms that have deteriorated in this way can give you serious stomach aches.

When it comes to reheating chicken, you might have heard that reheating chicken can be dangerous.  It’s not completely true, if done with right tricks but if you fail than there are chances of food poisoning. Some experts’ say that it is ok to reheat chicken but you have to make sure that it is reheated at a temperature of at least 175 degree Fahrenheit and that each part of the chicken should be heated properly. This way you will be able to kill the bacteria and make the food eatable once more.

Eggs are Unsafe to Reheat

If your scrambled egg is cold by the time you wait for the toast to pop out of the toaster, its fine to reheat it in microwave for a minute or two. However, the food experts advise people to not to reheat eggs that have been sitting around for even a short period as it can be dangerous for your health.  Keeping eggs out of the refrigerator actually gives open space to bacteria. It is suggested that foods that contain eggs should not be kept out of the fridge for more than two hours otherwise there are chances that food is affected by salmonella. The bacteria can multiply rapidly in egg dishes and lead to serious food poisoning. You should be very careful with the eggs as it is a part of daily diet and is used in a lot of foods as a supporting ingredient.

Reheating Cooked Rice leads to Bacterial Poisoning

Experts suggest not reheating cooked rice once left to cool down at room temperature. Bacillus cereus is the bacterium that contaminates cooked rice. The bacteria can be rendered harmless by heat; they make spores that are toxic and heat resistant. So you should not let the rice sit for very long after cooking, eat them as soon as possible otherwise the bacterium can attack it. If you must reheat cooked rice, make sure that every part of the dish gets ample heat and if you feel that some part has left unheated, pop the rice and reheat it again.

These are some foods that you should avoid reheating as they can be dangerous for your health. Bacteria are everywhere and you can’t see them. However, you can still avoid them by planning out strategically.
